Business Intelligence Assessments

We perform different types of Assessments to assist clients with their preparation, development, deployment and management of their Business Intelligence capabilities. The Assessment may also include a detailed plan of action, defining one or more delivery phases.

A typical study will include some or all of the following:
  • Validation and confirmation of the primary business drivers and objectives
  • Identification of the source systems to be considered
  • Specification of a high level architecture to integrate the data from disparate sources into a cleansed, integrated environment
  • Evaluation of your current technical environment and specification of the future IT infrastructure, including database, hardware and network recommendations
  • Identification of potential tools to integrate and cleanse the data, and to report & analyze the data (usually a separate, detailed, comparative tool evaluation is required)
  • A detailed "plan of action" defining each phase of upcoming delivery projects

Data Warehouse Strategy Development

This type of project is geared toward organizations just starting out with data warehousing or revisiting the current strategy due to a recent change, such as purchasing another company. The primary objective of this project is to document the vision and strategy for what data warehousing means to you and how you want data warehouse projects to be managed.

Development Methodology Definition & Implementation

We'll define the methodology needed for you to plan and manage your BI/data warehousing development efforts. The methodology can be as simple or complex as you need. Common components include stages, activities, and tasks in a hierarchy, template deliverable's, role assignments, techniques for each task, checklists, data quality assessment guidelines, tool guidelines for associated tasks, estimating techniques, and change control procedures for the methodology itself.

Tool Evaluation, Selection & Implementation

We'll work to learn about your IT environment and your reporting and analytical needs. This information helps us to determine the most cost-effective, appropriate set of tools to meet the informational direction of your company. This includes:

  • Extract, Transformation and Load tools
  • Reporting Tools
  • Analytical Tools (including statistical tools)
  • Database Management Solutions (DBMS)
